“The ambassador of Colombia in Stockholm avoided talking about Arauca”
Pleasant, diplomatic but he didn´t say anything concret, said Jens regarding the meeting with the ambassador Carlos Holmes Trujillo, brother to one of Uribe´s biggest followers, José Renán Trujillo, who is been accused of signing decrees such as “The Statues Against Terrorism” in exchange of getting his brother Carlos an Ambassador position in Sweden. We expressed him our concern about the detention of the agricultural labourer leader Luz Perly Córdoba, but he just said “it´s a legal process” ask Carlos Franco about The Presidential Humans Rights Program and The International Humans Rights Program.
12.09.2004 [Daniel Santamaría, ANNCOL] “Carlos Franco will be here next week and he will answer your questions about the three syndicalists mudered in Fortul (Arauca)” said the Colombian Ambassador in Sweden Carlos Holmes Trujillo, to the Vice-Mayor Margareta Olofsson and to Jens Holm press director of the left-wing administration in Stockholm.
Margareta and Jens wrote last 27th of August a letter directed to the
President Uribe Vélez in wich they lodged a complaint about the murder of Héctor Alirio Martínez, Leonel Goyeneche and Jorge Prieto by members of the Army. The were acussed of “shooting serviceman” wich costed them their lives. Recently the Procecutor General dicteted un order of capture for the three members, every one of them of low rank.
ANNCOL found out about this meeting in the activity files made by the goverment authorities of this nordic country.
Jens was kind enough to receive us.
Why did the Ambassador ask for a meeting with the Municipality of Stockholm?
He basicly wanted to “discuss the letter” we sent to Uribe´s Goverment regerding the murder of the three syndicalists in Fortul, but he only said “Carlos Franco will be here next week and he will answer your question”. In addtion to that he said that “the goverment he represents” take very seriously the matter of Human Rights and that they want peace for the colombian people. In spite of the insistence in the matter of Arauca, the Ambassador didn´t answer anything cocrete, said Jens to ANNCOL.
Regarding your concern about Perly, what did he say?
We expressed our concern about the the detention of the agricultural
labourer leader Luz Perly Córdoba, but he just said “it´s a legal process” ask Carlos Franco about The Presidential Humans Rights Program and The International Humans Rights Program.
What else did you talk about?
Well, I wanted to know why the army keeps on killing people whe they were supposed to protect their lives, and he said “it´s our own concern but we will investigate it”.
