Israeli Army Prepares to Destroy Family Farm Structures; Deny Access to Only Water Source
Where: Khirbet Tana and Beit Furik (Southeast of Nablus)
Between fifty and seventy families are threatened with loosing their farm dwellings on their land and access to water used for their land and animals.
The Israeli army has distributed a notice informing the residents that their farm structures of stone and metal sheets would be demolished. They are ordering those who use these structures to leave.
The structures provide shelter for farmers and herders and their animals on the land. In addition, this land, which belongs to Beit Furik and Khirbit Tana, has the only two water sources available to the farmers.
Prior to the signing of the Oslo Accords, farmers who tended their herds used tents and caves while at work. After Oslo, they built more permanent structures of stone and sheet metal.
The community has made a call to mobilize against the demolishing of their property and confiscation of their water sources.
