Jerusalem ISM Media Office 26 Jun 04
[A-Ram, Jerusalem] In response to a peaceful demonstration against the Israeli Apartheid Wall held today in the village
of A-Ram, Israeli police officers and undercover special forces officers arrested nine of the nonviolent participants –
four Jewish Israelis, one Palestinian Israeli and four Palestinian citizens of the West Bank, two of which are below the
age of 18. The nine were taken to the illegal West Bank settlement of Neve Yacov for interrogation. The Palestinians
were cuffed and forced to kneel while they were interrogated by masked men, according to Adv. Yael Berda. One of the
activists, Mohammad Khalil Mansour was seen bleeding from the face. Their names and further information are listed
below:
• Mohammed Khalil Mansour from Biddu, age 36 married with five children, community nonviolence organizer; ISM
coordinator. • Nidal Mousa from ?, age 17 • Mohammed Ahmed from Qubaba, age 16 • Khaled Salameh from A-Ram, age 21 •

All nine were taken into custody between 4:30 and 5:30 PM. At approximately 8 PM, the Israeli activists were given an
offer to be released, the Jewish Israeli activists refused to be set free in solidarity with the Palestinian detainees
who were not only being treated much more violently, but who are also likely to be detained long-term. The Israelis were
taken to court at 9:00PM and despite the fact that they wanted to stay with the Palestinian detainees, were set free on
conditions that they do not come within 100 meters of wall construction for 10 days.
We have learned that Mohammad Mansour has been severely beaten and taken to Hadassah Hospital.
Please stay tuned for more information on how you might be able to help us secure the release of these activists and
protest the barbaric violence consistently being used against unarmed demonstrators.
