Israel Assassinates Two Palestinians in Gaza
Bystander Killed, Two Children and Woman Among 7 Wounded
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) extra-judicially assassinated two Palestinian activists in the southern Gaza City
neighborhood of Al-Zaitoun early Sunday, killing a bystander and injuring at least seven others, three of them
critically, when an Israeli US-made Apache helicopter fired two missiles at a motorcycle in a densely-populated area.
Witnesses said Wa’el Nassar, 38, and Mohammed Sarsour, 31, were riding a motorcycle and were killed by the first
missile. The second missile crashed nearby moments later, killing bystander Madi Ahmad Madi.
Witnesses said they saw a flash in the sky before the motorcycle exploded.
The IOF confirmed the strike claiming it targeted “two senior Hamas commanders who were responsible for many attacks
against Israelis, including suicide bombings, and were planning further attacks.”
Palestinian medics said seven bystanders aged 14–50 were also wounded, three of them critically critical. A woman and
two children were among the casualties, they said.
The Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” said Nassar was the architect of a May 11 ambush in which six IOF soldiers died
when their armored personnel carrier rolled over a mine during a raid into Al- Zaitoun.
Also early Sunday, Israeli tanks and bulldozers raided the Rafah refugee camp on the Gaza-Egypt border, opened sporadic
heave machine gunfire, flattened some partially destroyed homes and buildings, and injured four Palestinians, residents
said.
Since Monday, the Palestinian death toll in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip rose to nine.
