I want to thank those of you who have signed our petition and shared the site with your friends. The thousands of voices, like yours, have inspired a dialogue in many of the presidential campaign communities.
But since some of our elected representatives still aren't listening, and since the stakes for our democracy and world stability could not be much higher, I'm asking for your help once again.
As the campaigns pick up steam across America for the fall elections, our media needs to have easy and visible access to information on the candidates. The journalists are under deadline, and they need help to understand which questions are important to ask for the citizenry, and which questions will generate headlines.
To hold our officials accountable, we need your help as we launch the "Where is the Money?" Hotseat. Our objective is to illuminate one official's personal responsibility for our missing money and what has become of it.
Mel Martinez was the Co-Chair of the Bush Campaign in Florida in 2000. Mel was rewarded with a cabinet position as Secretary of the Department and Housing and Urban Development (HUD). $59 Billion was missing from HUD and Mel did nothing. Encouraged by Karl Rove, Mel left HUD in December to run for US Senate in Florida in 2004. We are putting Mel in the Hotseat with a series pressing questions: http://www.whereisthemoney.org/hotseat/melmartinez.htm:
On Thursday, Mel will be campaigning in Gainesville Florida. On Friday, Mel will be campaigning in Tampa. Florida voters and candidates deserve to know the real deal on Mel.
Please take action today. The news editors are planning their questions right now and one call can make a difference.
