Sharon Prepares Contingency Should Road-Map Fail

Prime Minister appointed OC Plans and Policy Maj.-Gen. Giora Eiland as the coordinator of the team that will prepare a new Israeli security deployment.
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon today (Sunday), 28.12.2003, appointed OC Plans and Policy Maj.-Gen. Giora Eiland as the coordinator of the team that will prepare a new Israeli security deployment in the event that the implementation of the roadmap is halted.
Maj.-Gen. Eiland, who will assume the chair of the National Security Council in approximately two weeks, will head a team that will include representatives of the Defense, Foreign and Justice Ministries, the IDF and the ISA.
In the framework of the same team, Justice Ministry Director-General Aharon Abramovitz will coordinate the legal and economic aspects involved in the new security deployment.
