Checkpoint Inside Tel Aviv
On Sunday, November 30, at 8:30am a checkpoint will be set-up on the pedestrian bridge connecting the Azrieli Mall and the Military "Qiriya" Complex in Tel Aviv, in protest of the checkpoints and roadblocks inside the Occupied Territories.
The soldiers serving in the Qiriya help the system of occupation and oppression, via their army service. The Israeli army blocks the lives of 3.5 million Palestinians living under the Israeli occupation.
In the past 3 years of violence between Israel and the Palestinian people, the occupation has become more intense: closures, curfews, checkpoints, land expropriation and destruction of trees and fields- all of these have become commonplace incidents and facts of life for 3.5 million people.
The killing of innocent people is accepted by the Israeli society in a chilling silence. As a result, the violent attacks inside of Israel have multiplied. Hundreds of civilians were killed in the streets, on buses and in cafes.
Physicians for Human Rights-Israel (PHR-Israel), together with the "Shministim" Letter (the Israeli Youth Refusal Movement), are going to bring the checkpoints to the Qiriya- where the occupation is run from afar. Passage permits will be handed out. "We must say no!"
