Two Israeli Civilians Wounded by Terrorist Gunfire Near Hebron's Tel Rumedia Neighborhood
This afternoon (October 22, 2003), a Palestinian terrorist fired at an IDF position near the Tel Rumedia neighborhood in Hebron. IDF forces and a first response team returned fire, killing the terrorist. The terrorist gunfire wounded two Israeli civilians, one moderately, and the other, lightly. The two were transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
A Kalashnikov rifle and ammunition cartridges were found on the body of the terrorist.
IDF forces uncover 40 kilogram explosive device along the Gaza Strip perimeter fence
IDF and Israeli Border Police forces uncovered a 40 kilogram explosive device along the Gaza Strip perimeter fence near kibbutz Nahal Oz. The explosive device was detonated in a controlled manner.
It should be noted that two Palestinians were observed last night near the fence attempting to plant an explosive device.
IDF forces come under fire along the Israel- Egypt border
This afternoon, terrorists fired at IDF forces along the Israel-Egypt border, near Rafah. IDF forces returned fire.
The demolition of a terrorist's house in Hebron
As part of the ongoing war against terror and its infrastructure, IDF forces demolished the house of Shadi Ralab Abu Shadam in Hebron.
Shadam, a senior operative of PLFP, planned the April 12, 2002, suicide bombing in Jerusalem's Mahne Yehuda market - and dispatched the female suicide bomber who carried out the attack.
6 people were murdered and 91 injured in the suicide bombing.
IDF forces carry out arrests in the West Bank
Last night, a Tanzim operative in Hebron was killed when he fled from IDF forces. A pistol and cartridges were found on the body of the dead terrorist. In addition, four wanted Islamic Jihad operatives were arrested - and an additional two wanted Palestinians were detained for questioning in the city.
In Kalkilya, a wanted PFLP operative was killed when he fled from IDF forces. In addition, two wanted Islamic Jihad operatives were arrested in the city.
In Araba, southwest of Jenin, IDF forces arrested a wanted Palestinian, and seized two pipe bombs found in his house.
In the village of Rai, southwest of Jenin, IDF forces arrested three wanted Palestinians, and three wanted Palestinians in Arora, north of Ramallah. IDF forces also arrested 7 wanted Palestinians in Ein Yabrud, southeast of Ramallah.
In addition, IDF forces detained a wanted Palestinian for questioning in Dara al-Kara, north of Ramallah, and arrested a wanted Palestinian in Turmus Aya, north-west of Ramallah.
In Mizra Anovni, north of Ramallah, IDF forces arrested Ahmad Zaban. Zaban, a wanted PFLP member, was involved in a shooting attack in the Ramallah district. A Kalashnikov rifle and cartridges were seized in his house.
In total, 19 wanted Palestinians were arrested in the West Bank.
