President Bush Travels to Asia October 17-23
Will attend APEC meeting, visit regional leaders
The White House announced President Bush's plans to travel to Asia in October. Following is the text of the announcement:

October 8, 2003 STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY President Bush will attend the APEC Leaders' Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on October 20-21.
In addition to previously announced visits to the Philippines on October 18 and Thailand on October 18-19, the President has also accepted invitations from Prime Minister Koizumi to visit Japan on October 17-18, from Prime Minister Goh to visit Singapore on October 21-22, from President Megawati to visit Indonesia on October 22, and from Prime Minister Howard to visit Australia on October 22-23.
He looks forward to his discussions with these leaders on important bilateral, regional, and global issues.
