White House Condemns Bus Bombing in Jerusalem
Calls on Palestinian Authority to dismantle terrorist networks
The White House has condemned a suicide bombing August 15 in Jerusalem and urged the Palestinian Authority to dismantle terror networks.
Reports say at least 20 people died when a bomb exploded in a bus, and many more were wounded.
"We condemn this vicious act of terrorism in the strongest terms. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims and to those injured," U.S. National Security Council spokesman Sean McCormack said. "We call upon the Palestinian Authority to act to dismantle terrorist networks."
Earlier in the day, prior to the bombing , Bush told reporters in Crawford, Texas that "the Palestinian Authority needs to continue to work with the United States and others who are interested in dismantling terrorist organizations and ask for the help necessary so they can go and do what they need to do, which is dismantle and destroy organizations which are interested in killing innocent lives in order to prevent a peace process from going forward."
