IOF Erect Outposts in Hebron, Impose Curfew on Silwad, Bureen
Occupation Troops Detain 4 Activists in West Bank, to Deport Scot
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have set up two military outposts in the southern West Bank town of Hebron, detained a
senior Jihad activist in the northern town of Qalqilia, barred 11 Swedish-passport holders from leaving Gaza and will
deport a Scot.
The IOF outposts were set up in the neighborhoods of Abu Sneineh and Harat al-Sheikh - areas that overlook the illegally
built Jewish settler enclaves in the Israeli-occupied downtown sector.
Early on in the nearly three-year Palestinian uprising, the Israeli occupation army reoccupied Hebron, most of which it
had handed over to Palestinian control in 1997.
The IOF did not immediately comment on the two new outposts, set up as Palestinians and Israelis try to fulfill a
US-backed peace plan that calls for an end to the violence and Palestinian statehood within three years.
Also Sunday, Israeli occupation soldiers raided the home of an Islamic Jihad leader in Qalqiliya and detained him.
Palestinian security sources said Azem Nazzal of Islamic Jihad, among groups that have led a 34-month-old uprising in
the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, was arrested in the raid.
Qalqilya is one of four West Bank cities to be handed over to Palestinian security control to bolster a cease-fire
underpinning the “roadmap” peace plan.
The IOF also detained overnight Mahmud Hasan Dieb Fashafsheh and Mohammad Ahmad Jawdat Abu O’oun in the northern West
Bank village of Jaba’ south of Jenin, and Shaker Wajih Ibrahim Hbais in Qalqilya.
Separately, the IOF imposed a strict curfew on the northern West Bank village of Bureen, southwest of Nablus, early
Monday.
Meanwhile the IOF continued the curfew they imposed on Silwad, a town north of Ramallah, for the 6th consecutive day,
preventing bakeries, pharmacies and basic food stuff shops from opening, and confiscating the identity cards of those
daring to challenge the curfew.
In the Gaza Strip, eleven Palestinians holding Swedish passports were barred from leaving Gaza by the IOF, the Israeli
daily Ha’aretz reported on Monday.
Israel also will deport Scot peace activist Andrew Muncie, 29, of Spean Bridge, after trying to stop IOF soldiers
demolishing the house of a Palestinian family at a refugee camp near Nablus, The Glasgow Herald reported.
