Does this Remind you of Something? Occupation Is a Two-Way Street
Over 20 Israeli Peace Activists Arrested in Mas'Ha
The Israeli bulldozers cut huge swaths into the land of Hani A'ameer yesterday in spite of over sixty activists who formed a human chain around his property. They were trying to prevent the Apartheid Wall from making him yet another victim of the Israeli government's racist policies.
Today the contractor, police, and military found out what it was like to be occupied when a group of Israeli activists occupied the front loader and bulldozer that was busy destroying Hani A'ameer's property. For three hours they stopped most of the demolition equipment... by occupying it. They held up banners in Hebrew that said, "Does this remind you of something?" and Fence = Land Theft = Death."
Finally the Israeli military and police came and arrested them, carting them off to Ariel prison in the illegal settlement of Ariel just as they had done yesterday with the 49 peace activists who had formed a human chain around the house.
When asked why they were occupying equipment, one of the activists said,"Three reasons. One... we are standing in solidarity with the activists from yesterday and for the Palestinian, Nazeeh, who is still being held. Two... We're Israelis, and we're shouting out against this wall. And three... this is a mourning day for us because of the destruction of some of our property thousands of years ago, and we resent that our government is doing the same thing to the Palestinians."
Once the Israeli Military shoved everyone into the buses to take them away, they turned around and arrested Muhammad, the photographer for the AP. For all of you who can, call the Ariel police station at these numbers and demand the release of Nazeeh, all the Israeli peace activists, and Muhammed, the AP photographer.
