Nablus Activists to Defy Israeli Army
Yesterday, three ISM activists from Sweden and one journalist from Denmark were shot at by Israeli soldiers when they approached the Azmut checkpoint where the soldiers had been holding and abusing Palestinians since early in the morning and shooting at villagers in nearby fields.
The soldiers beat and head-butted the journalist, threatened to shoot the activists in the legs if they did not go back and pushed one of the female activists around threatening to shoot her. This follows on an incident on Tuesday when they held their guns to the heads and chest of two international activist and threatened to shoot them.
The Azmut checkpoint is not a closed military zone and the Israeli's have no right under international or Israeli law to abuse international volunteers in this way.
At 4 pm 9 international activists based in Nablus intend to cross the Azmut checkpoint today regardless of what force is used against them.
