'Keep Up Articles On Corruption'
PORT MORESBY (The National/Pacific Media Watch): Papua New Guinean journalists have been commended for the numerous
articles on corruption by people in high places in the country, The National reports.
Godfrey Wippon, now the founding and principal pastor of the Revival Centres of Papua New Guinea, based in Wewak,
commended the reporters and urged them to continue to assist law enforcing agencies by cleaning up the mess that is now
on the rise in Papua New Guinea since independence in 1975.
He also supported the efforts by the Transparency International group, headed by Sir Anthony Siaguru, in its fight
against corruption.
Pastor Wippon said this country is inhabited by God-conscious and fearing people and the Lord was not going to let them
down.
"Our Lord is going to reveal every evil practice in Waigani or elsewhere - be careful, your sins will find you out,² he
said.
Pastor Wippon also urged the judicial system to avoid bribes and threats and fear God by handing down decisions
accordingly for the sake of the country and its people.
He also appealed to Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare to be tough with his cabinet ministers in this new year and
beyond.
"All leaders must lead by example. Any leader found to have broken the law of the country must be punished accordingly,
and they too must not be considered for future employment in higher offices and leadership anymore." he said.
Pastor Wippon warned the leaders by applying two well-known phases, "the worst mistake you make is to make a mistake"
and "what¹s the point of gaining the whole world and losing your own soul in the end".
