Killing of U.S. Diplomat Laurence Foley in Amman, Jordan
Secretary Colin L. Powell Washington, DC October 28, 2002
Early this morning in Amman, Jordan, U.S. diplomat and USAID officer Laurence Foley was shot and killed outside his home. Personally, and on behalf of all the employees of Department of State, I extend my deepest condolences to his wife, Virginia, his three children, and his family and friends. Laurence Foley had devoted his own life to U.S. Government service and to improving the lives of others through his work with the Agency for International Development. He will be deeply missed.
