Nuclear Free Pacific Flotilla arrive at Spot X - Tasman Sea
The Nuclear Free Pacific Flotilla arrived at its protest spot between Norfolk and Lord Howe Island in the Tasman Sea
today about 600 miles northeast of New Zealand
The flotilla is protesting the transport of a radioactive cargo of plutonium MOX waste from Japan through the region on
its way back to the UK. The two armed UK freighters, Pacific Pintail and Pacific Teal, are due in the mid-Tasman in the
next few days.
The Nuclear Free Pacific Flotilla consists of 11 boats which have come from New Zealand, Australia, Vanuatu and France.
The flotilla is made up of individual boat owners with crews onboard ranging from 3 to 60 years old. Nationalities
represented onboard include New Zealand, Australia, Holland, UK, USA, Germany, France, Poland, Lebanon and South Africa.
