The World Medical Association, the global representative of physicians, today condemned the horrific attacks of terrorists on the United States of America. Dr. Delon Human, the Secretary General of the WMA, said "This barbaric act threatens to change completely the global landscape in terms of civilised life. If these terrorists were willing to sacrifice their lives and to completely disregard the lives of others, future attacks could be worse. As physicians we urge the world community to now take notice of the incredible dangers involved in terrorism and its profound effect on health, human rights and civilisation. We need to stand together and work together to root out this cancer from our global society."
The WMA, in collaboration with the American Medical Association, had planned to hold a scientific conference on the dangers of bio-terrorism next year in Washington D.C. None of the organisations expected that their fears would so soon be realised.
