BOSNIA SHOOTING INCIDENT UPDATE:
MATTER REFERRED TO COURT MARTIAL
The investigation on four charges relating to a 20 August 2000 shooting incident in Bosnia allegedly involving a New
Zealand Army officer and British soldiers has been referred to a court martial.
The officer concerned will face four charges under the Armed Forces Discipline Act 1971. The main charge is of
committing a civil offence namely causing grievous bodily harm with intent. There are three additional charges of doing
an act likely to prejudice service discipline.
The court martial is set down for 21 May 2001 at Waiouru. It is expected to last two weeks.
The Army will not be commenting or speculating on the circumstances surrounding this incident until the full legal
process has been completed.
