The regime's Constitution Review Commission has stopped sitting from today.
The decision to stop sitting was made by the Commission when it met today to decide on the course of action it could
take after the High Court made an interim order that the Commission stop sitting forthwith, and that it stop drawing
allowances from public funds with immediate effect.
The Commission stated that it respected the decision of the High Court and that it would abide by the law.
The decision has been hailed by the Citizen's Constitutional Forum as one which contributes to the return of democracy
in Fiji under the 1997 Constitution.
The regime, however, remained silent on the decision. The regime's attorney -general, Alipate Qetaki, however, raised
the question whether the CRC was an independent body. The question indicated that it was not too pleased with the CRC
decision to stop sitting.
Meanwhile the Fiji TV reported that while all political parties have commented on the High Court decision, the NFP
stated that it would not make any comment on it.
