Issue No: 85; 6 October 2000
Racial Discrimination is a sin abhorred by man and God alike, said the Methodist Church.
According to a report in today's Daily Post, the Methodist Church passed this as a resolution in its annual meeting at
Viseisei Village. The Church also reminded itself of eliminating racial discrimination in their dealings on issues such
as land, employment and education. The Post reported: "As members of human race, they were told of their duty in
preserving, protecting and respecting human life. They heard this is closely linked to the liberty and rights of others
regardless of race, creed and colour".
The Church is going through an interesting transformation where on the one hand it passes this resolution, while on the
other, its President endorsed the interim regime's Blueprint for Fijian Advancement which is state-sponsored racism.
