independence militias voluntarily turned themselves in Monday to local residents in the East Timor towns of Ermera and
Same, a UN civil police (Civpol) source told Lusa.

organizations have been evacuated from West Timor since the attack by pro-Indonesian militias on Wednesday against UNHCR
in the border town of Atambua.
10) UNTAET Daily Briefing 12/09/00 (UNTAET) SRSG Sergio Vieira de Mello spent the day in Ermera district, central East
Timor, where he met hundreds of people in a town hall meeting and visited two sub-districts.
