1) UN pull foreign staff out of West Timor border town 14/08/00 (Agence France Presse) JAKARTA - Two UN agencies on Saturday pulled most of their foreign staff out of the West Timor border town of Atambua, a day after pro-Jakarta militia encircled and threatened their offices, UN officials said.
2) Indonesia concedes it can't control Timor border 14/08/00 (Reuters) JAKARTA - Indonesia conceded on Friday it could not fully control its border with East Timor where another U.N. soldier was killed in a gunfight with pro-Jakarta gangs, and said the only solution was to close refugee camps in West Timor.
3) U.N. readies for Militia attacks 14/08/00 (AP) DILI, East Timor - Peacekeepers in East Timor are bracing for a new wave of attacks by anti-independence militias ahead of the first anniversary of the territory's vote for freedom, a senior U.N. commander said Friday.
