2) UN warns that Timor refugees may have to fend for themselves 02/08/00 (ABC) COMPERE: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHRC) is today warning it may be forced to pull out of West Timor leaving 120,000 refugees virtually to fend for themselves.
3) US warns Jakarta, stop sniping at East Timor 02/08/00 (Sydney Morning Herald) DILI - The United States Ambassador to Indonesia has condemned Jakarta's "lamentable and inexcusable" failure to disarm militias operating from West Timor.
4) Indonesia to register East Timor refugees 02/08/00 (AFP) JAKARTA, Aug 1 - Indonesian authorities plan to register all East Timorese refugees still on Indonesian soil and make a last offer, to either stay or return home, a report said Tuesday.

7) First diplomatic training course inaugurated in East Timor 02/08/00 (UN Newservice) DILI 31 July - The United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET) today inaugurated the territory's first Diplomatic Training Course.
8) East Timorese eye Olympic arena after battlefield 02/08/00 (Reuters) DARWIN - When the first Olympian of the world's newest country takes his place among other athletes at the opening of the Sydney 2000 Games, he will march in white and carry no national flag.

9) Arrest warrants for suspects in PKF killing 02/08/00 (UNTAET) DILI - Sergio Vieira de Mello sent a letter on 28 July to Attorney-General Marzuki Darusman seeking his cooperation in the investigation into the murder of New Zealand Peacekeeper Private Leonard Manning; in particular, the arrest and extradition to East Timor of any suspects found on Indonesian territory.
10) Statement before Security Council, July 27, 2000 02/08/00 (Indonesian Government) As affirmed in the said report, the Government of Indonesia has established a satisfactory level of cooperation with the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET) since the inception of its mandate by the Security Council.
