LONDON, Feb. 21 RNewswire-AsiaNet/ -- Young singing talents from around the world are being invited to take part in the
first ever BBC Radio 2 Voice of Musical Theatre, a new competition to find the international musical theatre stars of
the future. The UK's most listened to radio station BBC Radio 2 is looking to attract entries from professional and
semi-professional singers with the ambition and talent to succeed on a worldwide stage.
20,000 pounds in cash prizes, plus a recording deal and BBC broadcast opportunities are on offer, plus the chance of
launching a career into international stardom by performing live to producers, agents and musical theatre lovers from
across the globe. The all expenses paid contest will be held in the UK in the Welsh capital city of Cardiff in October
2000, culminating with a Gala Final concert on 28 October to be broadcast to millions of listeners on BBC Radio 2.

Contestants can enter one of three voice categories: Female, Male or Character. From a final shortlist of six, one
performer will be chosen to take the title of Voice of Musical Theatre 2000. The judges will be drawn from highly
experienced industry professionals including directors, producers, music directors, performers and voice coaches.
Competitors must be 18 or over, members of Equity (or equivalent) and fully able to perform in the English language.
