On February 25, Econoff delivered reftel talking points and
non-paper to Dr. Nestor Herrera, the Designated Scientific
Authority for CITES in the Ministry of Environment (MARN). Dr.
Herrera said he was contacted by representatives from NOAA and DOI
in January 2010 and was briefed on USG CITES submissions for COP
15. Dr. Herrera explained that El Salvador has not yet formed a
position on USG submissions and he will be meeting with El
Salvador's CITES Administrators in the Ministry of Agriculture
(MAG) on March 5 to finalize their position. Dr. Herrera said that
he will advise us of their position after the meeting with MAG.
