ESTH Officer met with Mr. Daroomalingum Mauree, Principal Fisheries
Officer, Fisheries Division, Ministry of Agro Industry to discuss
U.S. proposals for the third meeting of the Convention on Migratory
Species (CMS) meeting in Manila, February 8-12. Mauritius will
support the U.S. proposals for establishing an MOU under the CMS for
global migratory shark conservation and management. Mauritius will
be an active participant in the workshop discussions. Mauree said
there will be consensus on the U.S. proposals because they are aimed
at conservation, but are not legally binding. He noted that
Mauritius does not license export of shark products.
