SUBJECT: BLUE LANTERN BROKER INQUIRY - QUARTERMASTER'S LTD
- CASE NO. 050205274
REF: 09 SECSTATE 128516
Per reftel, post conducted an inquiry into the bona fides of
Quartermaster's Ltd. On January 19, the Criminal Intelligence
Group of HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) confirmed
that neither Quartermaster's Ltd nor the directors Pankesh
Patel or Maheshchandra Patel were adversely known to the UK
government. However, on the same day Pankesh Patel, managing
director at Quartermaster's Ltd, was indicted in Las Vegas,
NV under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Post subsequently
informed HMRC of the indictment. Noel Burke, Officer of HMRC,
stated that his agency will be in contact with LegAtt with
respect to the indictment and then evaluate if a broader
investigation into Quartermaster's Ltd is warranted.
