1. (SBU) Post delivered reftel points to Volodymyr Domashlinets,
Ukraine's CITES representative at the Ministry of Environmental
Protection, on February 1. Domashlinets said Ukraine will support
the U.S. proposals on sharks, corals, polar bears, and a snake
trade. The Ministry of Environmental Protection awaits an opinion
of the Institute of Zoology of the National Academy of Sciences to
determine whether to support the U.S. bobcat proposal.
2. (SBU) Domashlinets (domashlinets@menr.gov.ua) said he will
represent Ukraine's Ministry of Environmental Protection at the
March 13-25 CITES COP-15. The participation of a representative
from Ukraine's State Committee for Fisheries is still under
consideration.
