SUBJECT: OMS STAFF SERVING AS NOTARY PUBLICS
1. (U) The Mission requests that two OMS positions in Geneva be
authorized to serve as notary publics. Since the Mission does not
offer consular services, there is no ready pool of consular
officers to provide this required service to Mission staff. Two
OMS positions will provide adequate coverage.
2. (U) Two current OMS staff members are available to serve in
this function: Rosemary Motisi (ETD - September 2012) and Sandra
Griffis (ETD - October 2011). Ms. Motisi has served as a notary
public in the State of Colorado previously, in her capacity there
as a professional legal secretary.
3. (U) This request stems from a period of time - over one month -
when the Vice Consul, who typically would assist our Mission
members with notary services, was out of the country. There was no
back-up available which was a great inconvenience to our staff. We
do currently have a Vice Consul available to perform notary
services, but are looking to provide ample back-up in the future.
