SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR HUMAN RIGHTS VETTING FOR US SPONSORED TRAINING,

1. (U) Post requests the Department's assistance in screening the
following Unit Commander, of the Brazilian Marine Corps, who has
been nominated to lead a unit of approximately 200 people to
participate in the Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET), from
April 15-May 30, 2010, Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil, pursuant to the
Leahy Act and Foreign Assistance Act.
2. (U) Post verifies that, as of February 5, it possesses no
derogatory information of gross human rights violations by the
following Brazilian service member as cited below.
