(SBU) Econoff deliverd reftel demarche on October 28 to Pedro R.
Reategui, Minister Counselor in the WTO Office at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, Mariano Lopez Black, First Secretary at the
Ministry of Foreign affairs, and Edgar Vasquez Vela, Coordinator of
Negotiations and Administration of Agreements on Commercial
Technical Obstacles at the Ministry of Trade and Tourism. Mr.
Vasquez Vela informed Econoff that Peru is unlikley to support this
initiative given the current political perceptions on
remanufactured products. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested
additional information on the November 4 workshop. Post will
report any further response via septel.
