1. (SBU) DCM delivered reftel demarche to Florence Chong, Director,
International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade
(MFAT). Particular emphasis was placed on cooperation with U.S. on
human rights issues, OIC defamation of religion resolution, and
improving UN voting coincidence. Ms. Chong did not have immediate
response but did state that the MFAT, including senior leadership,
is carefully considering USG position. Embassy will continue to
engage with MFAT and will report further updates via septel.
