(SBU) We pressed reftel points with MFA deputy Director
General Ittiporn Boonpracong December 16, urging the Thai
government to support the U.S. proposal to harmonize UN
conditions of service and streamline contractual arrangements
at the UN. Ittiporn, who has overall MFA responsibility for
UN administrative issues, professed not to know the details
of this particular matter, but promised to convey our
perspective to the Thai mission in New York and to pass us
Thai views after consultation with the Thai mission. As a
general rule, Thailand usually affiliated itself with G-77
positions on such matters, he added.
