(SBU) On November 13, emboff met with Jana Strgar, Minister
Counsellor in the MFA's Latin American division, to deliver
demarche on Bolivia's suspension of DEA's operations (ref A).
Strgar questioned why Bolivia would waste 35 years of
cooperation, as the expulsion of DEA would only harm Bolivia.
She noted the recent decisions to PNG the US ambassadors to
Bolivia and Venezuela (reftel B), commenting that such
expressions of "solidarity" between Bolivia and Venezuela
were not productive and did not address the real challenges
in the region.
