(C) Brazil made no substantive reply to Third Committee
demarches (ref a) when Ambassador raised the three no action
motions on DPRK, Burma, and Iran, and the Defamation of
Religions motion. Ambassador Everton Vargas, Under Secretary
for Political Affairs at the Brazilian Ministry of External
Relations, offered only a reply of "noted," and mentioned in
that context that Brazil is opening an embassy in Pyongyang
(ref b). PolCouns left the non-papers with Vargas.
