SUBJECT: BURKINA FASO: DEMARCHE DELIVERED ON IMPLEMENTING UN SECURITY
COUNCIL RESOLUTION ON IRAN
REF: STATE 105173
(SBU) On October 6, PolOff delivered reftel demarche to Sylvain
Yameogo, Acting Director of International Organizations at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Yameogo noted that UN Security Council
Resolution 1835 follows the same themes as previous resolutions on
Iran. Yameogo highlighted the issues of travel restrictions,
technological information sharing, and financial sanctions as being
among the most pertinent issues for discussion within the
international community and at the national level. Yameogo said he
would study the points presented in the U.S. non-paper, pass on any
necessary information to Burkina Faso's permanent mission to the UN
in New York, and would notify Post if he has any new information on
their position to share.
