1. (SBU) We conveyed on August 21 reftel points on our position on
the Pacific Small Islands Developing States (PSIDS) resolution to
Third Secretary Mohamed Niyaz at the Maldives High Commission in
Colombo. We followed up this week with First Secretary Lauza Ali
for a substantive response on August 25 and 28. She has forwarded
the information to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for an official
reply on the draft UNGA proposal and will contact the US Embassy
when she receives a response.
