SUBJECT: LATVIA: NO REPORTED CASES OF FORCED OR CHILD LABOR TO
PRODUCE GOODS
REF: STATE 43120
Per reftel, Post knows of no recent instances of forced labor or
child labor to produce goods in Latvia. In addition, no record of
past instances was identified. Responding to our inquiry, the
Latvian Children and Family Affairs Ministry delivered an official
response on July 11, stating that the State Children Rights
Protection Inspectorate does not have on file any reports of child
labor being used to produce goods in Latvia. Post also contacted
the Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia (LBAS), who further
confirmed that they have not received any reports of forced labor or
child labor used for the production of goods in Latvia.
