1. (SBU) On 1 May, poloff delivered reftel demarche to Choi
Ki-Cheon, Deputy Director of the Disarmament and
Nonproliferation Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
and Trade. Choi said that the Disarmament and
Non-proliferation Division's Lee Sang-soo departed for the
Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT) Preparatory Committee
(PrepCom) on 25 April and would return on 4 May, prior to
PrepCom's conclusion on 9 May. Kim Haek-cho of the ROK
Embassy in Geneva will attend the remainder of the
conference. Choi undertook to convey the points in reftel to
the ROK Geneva delegation as soon as possible.
