(SBU) PolChief delivered reftel demarche to Tarja Pesamaa,
Deputy Director of the Finnish MFA's Office of
Nonproliferation, Arms Control and Disarmament April 1.
Pesamaa emphasized that the GoF intends to vigorously
implement the dual use provisions of UNSCR 1803 and all
previous Resolutions related to Iran. Finnish companies are
"well informed and pro-active in seeking clarification" from
the MFA on transactions regarding dual use items, she said,
and the GoF "exercises utmost vigilance" on any requests
regarding Iran. The GoF also has established a working group
that includes MFA, Customs and Ministry of Trade and Industry
representatives in order to provide further safeguards.
Finland welcomes the EU process aimed ensuring implementation
among all Member States, she added.
