28. Sato appreciated for the update and said the GOJ will
likely need "some time" to examine the IAEA-India safeguards
agreement once completed. Sato inquired about the U.S.
timeframe for circulating the draft policy statement once the
safeguards agreement has been completed. He also asked
whether the U.S. would propose an extraordinary meeting of
the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) before the scheduled May
2008 meeting.
