1. (SBU) Embassy Tokyo Political Officer delivered reftel
demarche on the U.S. Department of Treasury domestic
designation of four individuals and one entity for executing,
directing, and supporting violent attacks against Iraqi
citizens, Iraqi government officials, and Coalition Forces to
Ministry of Foreign Affairs International Counterterrorism
Cooperation Division official Miyako Ishimura on January 18.
Deputy Financial Attache also conveyed the information to
Ministry of Finance Legal Office Deputy Division Chief
Shunichi Fukushima. Both counterparts thanked Embassy
officers for the information and agreed on the need for
continued cooperation on terrorist finance issues.
