SUBJECT: VISAS VIPER FOR DECEMBER 2007 REPORTING PERIOD
1. Members of the Embassy Rabat and Consulate General Casablanca
joint Visas Viper Committee met January 8, 2008. The meeting was
chaired by the DCM and was attended by CONS, RAO, LEGATT, DAO, PD,
POL, and RSO.
2. Discussion centered on the sentencing of members of the Ansar Al
Mahdi cell on January 4 by the Sale court as well as a press report
in Arabic in the Al Massae newspaper about alleged Moroccan
jihadists in Iraq. Legatt was tasked with developing information
from the press reports to see if enough information can be developed
so that new Viper submissions may be submitted.
3. No names are being submitted for the December 2007 reporting
period at this time.
4. The Mission's Visas Viper Coordinator is Consular Chief Miguel
Ordonez.
