SUBJECT: LUXEMBOURG EXTENDS ISAF AND KFOR MANDATES AND WILL
PARTICIPATE IN EURFOR CHAD
On 9 November, the Luxembourg Council of Government (NOTE:
The weekly meeting of ministers in which governmental
decisions are made. END NOTE) approved the extension of
Luxembourg's participation in ISAF and KFOR through November
2009 and December 2009 respectively. The Council also
approved Luxembourg's participation in the EURFOR
Chad/Central African Republic (CAR) mission. Luxembourg's
participation in EURFOR - Chad/CAR will include up to three
soldiers and a 400,000 EUR contribution to the mission. All
of these decisions must be approved by Parliament but as the
Council represents the majority of parties in the Parliament,
final approval is virtually assured to be certain and swift.
