Reftel demarche was delivered to Mrs. Assitane Couyate,
Technical Adviser at the Ministry of Finance, on November 1
and to Mamadou Diarra, Chief of the America Division at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs on November 8. Mrs. Couyate took
note of the action request and promised to pass it to the
Secretary General but made no immediate substantive comments.

Mr. Diarra expressed concern about the risks of Iran's
vulnerability within the international financial system as
Mali receives development aid from Iran. (Note: Iran is
currently financing dam construction and agricultural
projects in Mali.) Mr. Diarra added that he would pass the
action request to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Moctar
Ouane, but made no other substansive comments.
