1. The Embassy received a positive response to the demarche
(reftel A) requesting Bangladesh's support for the
re-election of Felice Gaer to the Committee on Torture on
October 8.
2. The Acting Director of the Americas and Pacific Wing at
the Ministry of Foreign AFfairs informed POLOFF the Ministry
will support Gaer's candidacy. He said the Bangladesh
Mission to the United Nations in Geneva will also inform
US-UN Geneva of this.
