SUBJECT: AMBASSADOR DELIVERS DEMARCHE ON UNSCR 1747
IMPLEMENTATION -- GON NONCOMMITAL
REF: STATE 67462
(U) Ambassador delivered demarche points on UNSC Resolution
1747 to Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Samuel Santos and
Americas Office Director Orlando Gomez on May 21. They will
review our position and consider it. We emphasized that all
governments are expected to report on the matter to the UNSC
by May 24. Gomez explained that Ambassador Magda Enriquez,
the Director of Multilateral Affairs office and who just
returned from a week in New York, will follow up on the
issue. Enriquez may be tagged to serve as Nicaragua's
ambassador to the United Nations.
