1. This is Mozambique's Second Self-Help Interim Obligation
Report, written in response to reftel request.
2. Post Maputo's Special Self-Help selection committee has
reviewed all project applications and selected six
recipients for FY 2006 SSH funding. This year's committee
includes representatives from USAID, Public Affairs, CDC,
Peace Corps and Post's Pol/Econ section.
3. The following projects were selected:
-- A computer room for a secondary school in Moatize, Tete
province;
-- Sewing and embroidery training for youth in Tete
province;
-- A well to provide potable water for a community in
Chibuto, Gaza province;
-- A grinding mill for a community in Alto Molocue, Zambezia
province;
-- Construction of classrooms and a well for a primary
school in Moma, Nampula province; and
-- Equipment and materials to rehabilitate a hospital ward
in Maputo province.
5. The total amount that will be obligated for these
projects is USD 70,000, which is the full SSH amount
allocated to Post for FY 2006.
6. Post is finalizing amounts and drafting agreements. Post
expects all agreements to be signed by the first week in
August and all funds to be obligated shortly thereafter.
