OF GEBRAN TUENI

Per reftel, Pol Chief delivered the statements of the
President and the Secretary regarding the assassination of
Gebran Tueni to Eija Rotinen, the Finnish MFA's Director (A/S
equivalent) for the Middle East and Asia. Rotinen said that
the GoF was deeply troubled by the assassination and
expressed gratitude for the U.S. statements. She noted that
Finland would not be issuing a separate statement but agreed
fully with the EU position outlined by the UK Presidency.
