1. Country clearance is granted for Deputy U.S.
Marshals, Michael Robert McClung, and Donald Irving
Exum.
2. Two double rooms for single use have been reserved
for U.S. Marshals Michael Robert McClung, Donald Irving
Exum and Roger Wellborn Devall, at Hotel Melia Los
Galgos, Claudio Coello 139, 28006 Madrid, tel.: 91
5626600, from March 29 to April 1. The rate per room
and night _165.85/$222.25 (VAT included) and breakfast
buffet is _18.20 /$24.30 (VAT included)
3. Upon arrival, U.S. Marshals are requested to proceed
directly to the airport police station located in same
terminal building to meet Spanish Interpol officials
who will assist them as appropriate. U.S. Marshals are
also requested to call Kim Wise, Embassy Madrid at 91-
587-2242 to discuss surrender arrangements.
4. Please be advised that Spanish visas are required
for holders of official/diplomatic passports coming to
Spain on official business.
5. In general, Spain is safe. However, Madrid,
Barcelona and other large cities in Spain - including
resort/convention areas such as Benidorm - attract a
large number of criminals and pickpockets and frequent
incidents of crime of opportunity against the unwary do
occur. Carry only essential items including a photo-
copy of your passport's photo page. Visitors can
protect themselves against crime by being street-smart,
alert and aware of their surroundings. In the event
you are victimized by crime, or experience any security-
related incident, please contact the Embassy's Regional
Security Office at 91-587-2550 or after ours at 91-587-
2355. Official visitors to the Embassy in Madrid or the
Consulate General in Barcelona are encouraged to
receive a security briefing from the RSO office at
their earliest convenience. Additional information
